RIGA SPORT SAILING CENTER founded in 2016, currently one of the most active new sailing centers in Riga. It is not only a well-maintained marina for yachts, but also a multifunctional sailing center, available to anyone interested in various water sports and active recreation. A place for sailors, rowers and other water activities enthusiasts.
The author and founder of the idea of the sailing center is the association LATVIAN SAILING TEAM - a team of sailors founded in 2007, which participates in high-level sea sailing races in Europe and the Mediterranean basin in various boat classes. Since 2015 the team has been training on "PLATU 25" class yachts to promote the development of the national yacht class in Latvia.
RIGA SPORT SAILING CENTER is about promoting the sport of sailing. Sailing is a sport that can be practiced at any age, from sailing as a child to the age of 6-7, and doing it until old age. It does not matter if you did not start sailing as a child, you can start learning to sail at any age, if you have decided to learn something new and exciting.
RIGA SPORT SAILING CENTER every summer organizes different competitions for sailors, practical training for adults who want to learn sailing, as well as trainings for the team of sports sailors.
RIGA SPORT SAILING CENTER every year organizes the RIGA CUP sailing competition, which takes place every year due to the Riga Festival, and is organized in the River Daugava near the Vanšu Bridge. Every year they gather over 100 sailors of all ages and are a real sailing festival in the center of Riga.
One of the largest and most significant sailing events, which was organized at the RIGA SPORT SAILING CENTER, is the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PLATU25 for sports yachts, which took place in August 2018. The official website of the championship can be viewed here.
